About

Community, Connection, and Caring activate compassion.

These words describe the vision for St. Augustine Compassionate Village (STA Compassionate Village). STA Compassionate Village will be a not-for-profit membership organization whose mission is to enhance the quality of life of people age 55+ who want to live at home, stay active as they age, and practice compassion in their lives and communities. STA Compassionate Village will be the tenth member of the Village to Village Network (VTVN) in Florida and the first in NE Florida.

The goal is to inspire the development of aging-in-place communities throughout St. Johns County and beyond. The founders envision a number of welcoming, intergenerational, and culturally diverse compassionate Villages that will include the City of St. Augustine and all surrounding neighborhoods throughout St. Johns County. Our members are part of a caring, connected, compassionate community that empowers all to live and thrive, aging in place with the services they need.

An initiative of Compassionate St. Augustine, STA Compassionate Village will combine the Village movement, which began in the Beacon Hill neighborhood in Boston in 2002, with the Compassionate movement, founded by Karen Armstrong in Great Britain in 2008.

Creating the world’s first “Compassionate Village” will combine the strengths and experience of the Village movement and the Compassionate movement and positively impact the residents of St. Johns County and their loved ones.
